How to Repair A hoverboard

Like any other electronic Hoverboards also breakdown and will need to be repaired.

DIAGNOSING A BROKEN HOVERBOARD

Things break down over time. We all know this. There is nothing worse than when you go to your vehicle and it won’t start. This is the same as with your hoverboard. When it breaks, you need hoverboard replacement parts.

However, unlike your car, your hoverboard is much easier to diagnose and repair yourself. Should you find that our guides to fix your broken hoverboard are not helpful, and need more information, please feel free to contact us.

What Are The Most Common Problems That Hoverboards Can Give?

Hoverboard Won’t Turn On

If your hoverboard does not turn on at all and does not charge, that means there could be a few things wrong. Let’s see where the problem is coming from.

Here is what you can do to find out which part is bad:

–Connect your charger to the wall and make sure you get the green indicator on the charger box before you connect it to the hoverboard. Now connect your charger to the hoverboard.

  1. Should the green indicator on the charger box disappear, your internal circuits are bad and need to be replaced. The best thing to do is to unscrew and remove the bottom of the housing and email us a picture of the insides to info@hoverboardrepair.com or just ship it to us for repair.
  2. If the green indicator light on the charger box stays green, turn the hoverboard on while the charger is still connected. If the hoverboard turns on and you get a flashing orange battery indicator on the hoverboard, your battery is bad and needs to be replaced. You can either ship it to us for repair. You can also search for a Samsung battery on Google and buy one and easily replace it yourself.
  3. If the green indicator light on the charger box stays green, turn the hoverboard on while the charger is still connected. If the hoverboard does not turn on, that could mean the charging port is damaged or disconnected. You can unscrew and remove the bottom of the hoverboard and inspect the charging port wires for faults and make sure it is plugged in properly. If the charging port is faulty or missing cables, you can purchase them here. If a new charging port does not fix your problem, then you would need one of our repair kits. Email us a picture of the insides to info@hoverboardrepair.com or just ship it to us for repair.

Loose Cables

You will need to reconnect the cable, whether they are loose or their connections are bad. You will need to start by unscrewing the bottom of the board and remove the lower part of the body.

Now you need to locate the main circuit board, then disconnect and reconnect the wires on the board. Should this fail to fix the problem, you might need to buy a new motherboard.

Circuit Malfunctions and Balance Sensors

This will also cause the board’s balance sensors to stop working. If resetting the device does not solve the problem, then a replacement kit is the only solution.

Wheel Motors

These are tiny little devices that wire from the motherboard feed into the wheels. The red light will blink four times for the motherboard side, and five times for the battery side.

Fixing this problem requires buying a new motor for the bad wheel, then replacing it disconnecting the old motor, and reattaching the new one. They come pre-assembled, making this an easy project.

Faulty Battery

Every battery goes bad eventually, including the ones inside of a hoverboard. When yours finally kicks the bucket, all you need to do is purchase a new one and replace it.

Make sure to pick up the battery that works with your model, or a UL2271.

Replacing Gyroscopes

This fix is one of the trickiest. Even if you can do this fix yourself, the gyroscopes must be the same kind used by the motherboard of your hoverboard. Should you have any doubts, you can get yourself a full circuit replacement kit.
